Unfortunately, it has come time to remove both Crystal Isle and Volcano from our cluster. Why?
Volcano has not received updates in over a year despite having some major issues on the map and is now being declared done by the developer. They have no intention of going back in and fixing the issues that make Volcano prone to crashes, memory leaks, and buggy terrain. Meanwhile, Crystal Isles development has continued to make the map more and more unstable with each update, finally resulting in us being unable to load it up and keep it from crashing for very long. While the dev's say a fix is coming, it's already been several weeks and their past history of development indicates they are more prone to pushing new features rather than fixing old bugs that keep the map unreasonably intensive on our servers. As it is, not many of the community members can enjoy crystal due to the heavy load it requires on their computers. Since both maps now no longer meet the DC standards of quality we'd like to offer you all, it's time to remove them.
We will be allowing two weeks to move from each of the maps. However, given Crystal's current state we can't actually load it up for long without more room on the cluster to allow for it's current memory leak issues. So, our plan is to allow players to move from Volcano first and then shut it down, this will hopefully make enough room in which Crystal Isle can operate well enough to allow access to it once again without too many complications. We are aware many of you who have bases on Crystal Isle can no longer even load the map in single player so we will have admins available to help with the moves if needed.
About Crystal Isle special dinos, since they can not be taken off the map we will offer a trade in for up to three of your favorite dinos. You'll be allowed to trade in you crystal isle special for a like dino compatible with the base game of similar level. For example, the crystal wyverns can be traded in for your choice of a lighting, fire, ice, or poison wyvern. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please submit a ticket once the Crystal Isle move starts.
